I joined Harbour BioMed in Apr. 2018, started as Head of Procurement, but soon got promoted to the Head of Corporate Operation, leading a team of 15 people to help the company to lease the space and renovate them within one and half year. Fenglin office, Zhangjiang Lab and Suzhou Lab, 3 sites, total size close to 8,000 square meters were made in full operation within such a short period, seemed “mission impossible in big pharma” became “mission accomplished in Harbour BioMed”, with full delegation from top management and strong support and dedication from the operation team. No complaints, no pushing back, one team, one Harbour, we made it! I feel so proud when relocating into the entire new buildings, when visitors attended our opening ceremony and were impressed by its modern-looking design and construction speed. All the effort paid off.
Harbour BioMed provided people with ample opportunities to grow and develop. People’s potential can be fully realized and good performance and behavior are always timely recognized. “Individual Star Award” and “Team Star Award” announced on the quarterly-held HBM Townhall Meeting and “Excellent Employee” “Presidential Award” on HBM annual meeting were just a few to mention.
“Learning by doing” is the best example for people at Harbour. So long as you would like to learn, there are all kinds of training courses, workshops organized on weekly basis, from most advanced research and discovery topic to clinical design’s factor consideration, even about our healthcare tips in our daily life. Last year I had the chance to visit Erasmus University, Rotterdam and with great honor and pleasure to visit the lab, led personally by Dr. Frank Grosveld, the inventor of Harbour Mice®, and also Member of the Royal Society, UK and Member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts & Sciences. I was beyond lucky I guess.
2 years is not a long time during my whole career life, yet I am proud of what has been done within these 2 years. Come and join us, and if you are interested, I can definitely share with you more of my stories!
JASON NOON
SCIENTIST, DISCOVERY ONCOLOGY
Harbour BioMed is the ideal place for innovative and passionate scientists to thrive. As a postdoctoral fellow in immunology at Boston University School of Medicine, I was immediately attracted to HBM’s exciting therapeutic pipeline and research directions for discovery. In beginning my career in biotech at HBM, I was quickly able to identify inspiring role models that, although challenged me to great lengths, enabled my development into a highly confident and productive professional in the industry. By demonstrating great passion for science, having creative ideas, and working extremely hard, HBM rewarded me for excellence. One of my fondest memories at HBM is when my colleagues, though being very busy with their own projects, teamed up with me to deliver incredibly powerful results that discovered a unique function of an innovative bispecific antibody. In the end, without any dispute, I was given the opportunity to be the project leader. This is only one example of many for how teamwork and humility are deeply nested in the HBM culture to allow our delivery of innovative therapeutics at such an extraordinary pace. At HBM, we are a family of highly motivated and passionate individuals hungry to innovate and deliver life-changing therapeutics to patients in need.
XIN GAN
DIRECTOR, DISCOVERY ONCOLOGY
I joined company in 2017. There were less than 30 people then. Today, it has grown up to more than 200 people in Harbour. The innovation-driven working and company’s continuous attention to employee’s growth impresses me a lot.
As a pharmaceutical biotech with innovation-oriented, Harbour is positioned as a leading company focusing on the global cutting edge of drug discovery research and resolution to unmet medical needs. Harbour is a sentimental, powerful, atmospheric company, which is comparable to any of multinational pharmaceutical companies all over the world. Company keep on putting lots of effort on the innovation of science and technology to lead projects and platforms. As a scientist, I am so glad and proud of being one of Harbour team.
As one of Harbour people, I feel that Harbour provides enough opportunities for talents and space for junior people to learn and grow up. There have been several colleagues switched or extended their career tracks in Harbour with the fully support from company. For junior people, there are many experienced leaders and colleagues to learn from and abundant training classes covering from scientific knowledge to soft skill sets. Harbour always provides enough opportunities and space to internal talents. Many young people in Harbour have grown up as the technical experts.
